1. Christian brothers, I want to tell the Good News to you again. It is the same as I preached to you before. You received it and your faith has been made strong by it.
|

2. This is what I preached to you. You are saved from the punishment of sin by the Good News if you keep hold of it, unless your faith was worth nothing.
|
2. By G1223 which G3739 also G2532 ye are saved G4982 , if G1487 ye keep in memory G2722 what G5101 I G3056 preached G2097 unto you G5213 , unless G1622 G1508 ye have believed G4100 in vain G1500 .

3. First of all, I taught you what I had received. It was this: Christ died for our sins as the Holy Writings said He would. (Isaiah 53:5-12)

4. Christ was buried. He was raised from the dead three days later as the Holy Writings said He would. (Psalm 16:9-10)

5. Christ was seen by Peter. After that, the twelve followers saw Him.
|

6. After that, more than 500 of His followers saw Him at one time. Most of them are still here, but some have died.
|

7. After that, James saw Christ. Then all the missionaries saw Him.

8. Last of all, Christ showed Himself to me as if I had been born too late.

9. For I am the least important of all the missionaries. I should not be called a missionary because I made it so hard for God's church.
|

10. I am different now. It is all because of what God did for me by His lovingfavor. His loving-favor was not wasted. I worked harder than all the other missionaries. But it was not I who worked. It was God's loving-favor working through me.
|
10. 11. It makes no difference how you heard the Good News. It could have been through the other missionaries or through me. The important thing is this: We preached the Good News to you and you believed it.

11. Therefore G3767 whether G1535 it were I G1473 or they G1565 , so G3779 we preach G2784 , and G2532 so G3779 ye believed G4100 .

12. We preached to you that Christ has been raised from the dead. But some of you say that people are not raised from the dead. Why do you say this?
|
12. Now G1161 if G1487 Christ G5547 be preached G2784 that G3754 he rose G1453 from G1537 the dead G3498 , how G4459 say G3004 some G5100 among G1722 you G5213 that G3754 there is G2076 no G3756 resurrection G386 of the dead G3498 ?

13. If the dead are not raised, then Christ was not raised from the dead.
|
13. But G1161 if G1487 there be G2076 no G3756 resurrection G386 of the dead G3498 , then is Christ G5547 not G3761 risen G1453 :
|
|
14. If Christ was not raised from the dead, then what we preach to you is worth nothing. Your faith in Christ is worth nothing.
|
14. And G1161 if G1487 Christ G5547 be not G3756 risen G1453 , then G686 is our G2257 preaching G2782 vain G2756 , and G1161 your G5216 faith G4102 is also G2532 vain G2756 .

|
15. That makes us all liars because we said that God raised Christ from the dead. But God did not raise Christ from the dead if the dead do not come to life again.
|
15. Yea G1161 , and G2532 we are found G2147 false witnesses G5575 of God G2316 ; because G3754 we have testified G3140 of G2596 God G2316 that G3754 he raised up G1453 Christ G5547 : whom G3739 he raised not up G1453 G3756 , if so be that G1512 G686 the dead G3498 rise G1453 not G3756 .

16. If the dead are not raised, then not even Christ was raised from the dead.
|
16. For G1063 if G1487 the dead G3498 rise G1453 not G3756 , then is not G3761 Christ G5547 raised G1453 :

|
17. If Christ was not raised from the dead, your faith is worth nothing and you are still living in your sins.
|
17. And G1161 if G1487 Christ G5547 be not G3756 raised G1453 , your G5216 faith G4102 is vain G3152 ; ye are G2075 yet G2089 in G1722 your G5216 sins G266 .

|
18. Then the Christians who have already died are lost in sin.
|
18. Then G686 they also which are fallen asleep G2837 G2532 in G1722 Christ G5547 are perished G622 .
|
|
19. If we have hope in Christ in this life only, we are more sad than anyone else.
|
19. If G1487 in G1722 this G5026 life G2222 only G3440 we have G2070 hope G1679 in G1722 Christ G5547 , we are G2070 of all G3956 men G444 most miserable G1652 .

|
20. But it is true! Christ has been raised from the dead! He was the first One to be raised from the dead and all those who are in graves will follow.
|
20. But G1161 now G3570 is Christ G5547 risen G1453 from G1537 the dead G3498 , and become G1096 the firstfruits G536 of them that slept G2837 .
|
|
21. Death came because of a man, Adam. Being raised from the dead also came because of a Man, Christ.
|
21. For G1063 since G1894 by G1223 man G444 came death G2288 , by G1223 man G444 came also G2532 the resurrection G386 of the dead G3498 .
|
|
22. All men will die as Adam died. But all those who belong to Christ will be raised to new life.
|
22. For G1063 as G5618 in G1722 Adam G76 all G3956 die G599 , even G2532 so G3779 in G1722 Christ G5547 shall all G3956 be made alive G2227 .
|
|
23. This is the way it is: Christ was raised from the dead first. Then all those who belong to Christ will be raised from the dead when He comes again.
|
23. But G1161 every man G1538 in G1722 his own G2398 order G5001 : Christ G5547 the firstfruits G536 ; afterward G1899 they G3588 that are Christ G5547 's at G1722 his G848 coming G3952 .

|
24. Next, at the end of the world, Christ will give His holy nation over to God the Father. Christ will have destroyed every nation and power.
|
24. Then G1534 cometh the G3588 end G5056 , when G3752 he shall have delivered up G3860 the G3588 kingdom G932 to God G2316 , even G2532 the Father G3962 ; when G3752 he shall have put down G2673 all G3956 rule G746 and G2532 all G3956 authority G1849 and G2532 power G1411 .

25. Christ must be King until He has destroyed all those who hate Him and work against Him.
|
25. For G1063 he G846 must G1163 reign G936 , till G891 G3757 he hath put G5087 all G3956 enemies G2190 under G5259 his G848 feet G4228 .

|
26. The last thing that will be destroyed is death.
|
26. The last G2078 enemy G2190 that shall be destroyed G2673 is death G2288 .
|
|
27. The Holy Writings say that God has put all things under Christ's feet except Himself.
|
27. For G1063 he hath put G5293 all things G3956 under G5259 his G848 feet G4228 . But G1161 when G3752 he saith G2036 G3754 all things G3956 are put under G5293 him, it is manifest G1212 that G3754 he is excepted G1622 , which did put all things under G5293 G3956 him G846 .

28. When Christ is over all things, He will put Himself under God Who put all things under Christ. And God will be over all things.
|
28. And G1161 when G3752 all things G3956 shall be subdued unto G5293 him G846 , then G5119 shall the G3588 Son G5207 also G2532 himself G848 be subject G5293 unto him that put all things under G5293 G3956 him G846 , that G2443 God G2316 may be G5600 all G3956 in G1722 all G3956 .

29. What good will it do people if they are baptized for the dead? If the dead are not raised, why are people baptized for them?
|
29. Else G1893 what G5101 shall they do G4160 which are baptized G907 for G5228 the G3588 dead G3498 , if G1487 the dead G3498 rise G1453 not G3756 at all G3654 ? why G5101 are they then G2532 baptized G907 for G5228 the G3588 dead G3498 ?

30. Why are we also in danger every hour?
|
30. And G2532 why G5101 stand we in jeopardy G2793 G2249 every G3956 hour G5610 ?
|
|
31. I say this, Christian brothers, I have joy in what Jesus Christ our Lord has done for you. That is why I face death every day.
|
31. I protest G3513 by your G2251 rejoicing G2746 which G3739 I have G2192 in G1722 Christ G5547 Jesus G2424 our G2257 Lord G2962 , I die G599 daily G2596 G2250 .

|
32. As men look at it, what good has it done for me in the city of Ephesus to fight with men who act like wild animals? If the dead are not raised, we might as well be like those who say, "Let us eat and drink, for tomorrow we die."
|
32. If G1487 after the manner G2596 of men G444 I have fought with beasts G2341 at G1722 Ephesus G2181 , what G5101 advantageth G3786 it me G3427 , if G1487 the dead G3498 rise G1453 not G3756 ? let us eat G5315 and G2532 drink G4095 ; for G1063 tomorrow G839 we die G599 .

33. Do not let anyone fool you. Bad people can make those who want to live good become bad.
|
33. Be not G3361 deceived G4105 : evil G2556 communications G3657 corrupt G5351 good G5543 manners G2239 .

34. Keep your minds awake! Stop sinning. Some do not know God at all. I say this to your shame.
|
34. Awake G1594 to righteousness G1346 , and G2532 sin G264 not G3361 ; for G1063 some G5100 have not the knowledge G2192 G56 of God G2316 : I speak G3004 this to G4314 your G5213 shame G1791 .

35. Someone will say, "How are the dead raised? What kind of bodies will they have?"
|
35. But G235 some G5100 man will say G2046 , How G4459 are the G3588 dead G3498 raised up G1453 ? and G1161 with what G4169 body G4983 do they come G2064 ?
|
|
36. What a foolish question! When you plant a seed, it must die before it starts new life.
|
36. Thou fool G878 , that which G3739 thou G4771 sowest G4687 is not G3756 quickened G2227 , except G3362 it die G599 :
|
|
37. When you put it in the earth, you are not planting the body which it will become. You put in only a seed.
|
37. And G2532 that which G3739 thou sowest G4687 , thou sowest G4687 not G3756 that body G4983 that shall be G1096 , but G235 bare G1131 grain G2848 G1487 , it may chance G5177 of wheat G4621 , or G2228 of some G5100 other G3062 grain :

38. It is God Who gives it a body just as He wants it to have. Each kind of seed becomes a different kind of body.
|
38. But G1161 God G2316 giveth G1325 it G846 a body G4983 as G2531 it hath pleased G2309 him, and G2532 to every G1538 seed G4690 his own G2398 body G4983 .
|
|
39. All flesh is not the same. Men have one kind of flesh. Animals have another kind. Fish have another kind, and birds have another kind.
|
39. All G3956 flesh G4561 is not G3756 the G3588 same G846 flesh G4561 : but G235 there is one G243 kind G3303 of flesh G4561 of men G444 G1161 , another G243 flesh G4561 of beasts G2934 G1161 , another G243 of fishes G2486 , and G1161 another G243 of birds G4421 .

40. There are bodies in the heavens. There are bodies on earth. Their greatness is not the same.
|
40. There are also G2532 celestial G2032 bodies G4983 , and G2532 bodies G4983 terrestrial G1919 : but G235 the G3588 glory G1391 of the G3588 celestial G2032 is G3303 one G2087 , and G1161 the G3588 glory of the G3588 terrestrial G1919 is another G2087 .

41. The sun has its greatness. The moon has its greatness. Stars have their greatness. One star is different from another star in greatness.
|
41. There is one G243 glory G1391 of the sun G2246 , and G2532 another G243 glory G1391 of the moon G4582 , and G2532 another G243 glory G1391 of the stars G792 : for G1063 one star G792 differeth from G1308 another star G792 in G1722 glory G1391 .

|
42. It is the same with people who are raised from the dead. The body will turn back to dust when it is put in a grave. When the body is raised from the grave, it will never die.
|
42. So G3779 also G2532 is the G3588 resurrection G386 of the G3588 dead G3498 . It is sown G4687 in G1722 corruption G5356 ; it is raised G1453 in G1722 incorruption G861 :

|
43. It has no greatness when it is put in a grave, but it is raised with shining-greatness. It is weak when it is put in a grave, but it is raised with power.
|
43. It is sown G4687 in G1722 dishonor G819 ; it is raised G1453 in G1722 glory G1391 : it is sown G4687 in G1722 weakness G769 ; it is raised G1453 in G1722 power G1411 :

|
44. It is a human body when it dies, but it is a God-like body when it is raised from the dead. There are human bodies and there are God-like bodies.
|
44. It is sown G4687 a natural G5591 body G4983 ; it is raised G1453 a spiritual G4152 body G4983 . There is G2076 a natural G5591 body G4983 , and G2532 there is G2076 a spiritual G4152 body G4983 .
|
|
45. The Holy Writings say, "The first man, Adam, became a living soul." But the last Adam (Christ) is a life-giving Spirit.
|
45. And G2532 so G3779 it is written G1125 , The G3588 first G4413 man G444 Adam G76 was made G1096 a G1519 living G2198 soul G5590 ; the G3588 last G2078 Adam G76 was made G1519 a quickening G2227 spirit G4151 .

46. We have these human bodies first. Then we are given God-like bodies that are ready for heaven.
|
46. Howbeit G235 that was not G3756 first G4412 which is spiritual G4152 , but G235 that which is natural G5591 ; and afterward G1899 that which is spiritual G4152 .
|
|
47. Adam was the first man. He was made from the dust of the earth. Christ was the second man. He came down from heaven.
|
47. The G3588 first G4413 man G444 is of G1537 the earth G1093 , earthy G5517 : the G3588 second G1208 man G444 is the G3588 Lord G2962 from G1537 heaven G3772 .
|
|
48. All men of the earth are made like Adam. But those who belong to Christ will have a body like the body of Christ Who came from heaven.
|
48. As G3634 is the G3588 earthy G5517 , such G5108 are they also that are earthy G5517 G2532 : and G2532 as G3634 is the G3588 heavenly G2032 , such G5108 are they also that are heavenly G2032 G2532 .
|
|
49. Now, our bodies are like Adam's body. But in heaven, our bodies will be like the body of Christ.
|
49. And G2532 as G2531 we have borne G5409 the G3588 image G1504 of the G3588 earthy G5517 , we shall also G2532 bear G5409 the G3588 image G1504 of the G3588 heavenly G2032 .

|
50. Christian brothers, our bodies which are made of flesh and blood will not go into the holy nation of God. That which dies can have no part in that which will never die.
|
50. Now G1161 this G5124 I say G5346 , brethren G80 , that G3754 flesh G4561 and G2532 blood G129 cannot G1410 G3756 inherit G2816 the kingdom G932 of God G2316 ; neither G3761 doth corruption G5356 inherit G2816 incorruption G861 .

51. For sure, I am telling you a secret. We will not all die, but we will all be changed.
|
51. Behold G2400 , I show G3004 you G5213 a mystery G3466 ; We shall not G3756 all G3956 sleep G2837 , but G1161 we shall all G3956 be changed G236 ,

|
52. In a very short time, no longer than it takes for the eye to close and open, the Christians who have died will be raised. It will happen when the last horn sounds. The dead will be raised never to die again. Then the rest of us who are alive will be changed.
|
52. In G1722 a moment G823 , in G1722 the twinkling G4493 of an eye G3788 , at G1722 the G3588 last G2078 trump G4536 : for G1063 the trumpet shall sound G4537 , and G2532 the G3588 dead G3498 shall be raised G1453 incorruptible G862 , and G2532 we G2249 shall be changed G236 .

53. Our human bodies made from dust must be changed into a body that cannot be destroyed. Our human bodies that can die must be changed into bodies that will never die.
|
53. For G1063 this G5124 corruptible G5349 must G1163 put on G1746 incorruption G861 , and G2532 this G5124 mortal G2349 must put on G1746 immortality G110 .
|
|
54. When this that can be destroyed has been changed into that which cannot be destroyed, and when this that does die has been changed into that which cannot die, then it will happen as the Holy Writings said it would happen. They said, "Death has no more power over life." (Isaiah 25:8)

54. So G1161 when G3752 this G5124 corruptible G5349 shall have put on G1746 incorruption G861 , and G2532 this G5124 mortal G2349 shall have put on G1746 immortality G110 , then G5119 shall be brought to pass G1096 the G3588 saying G3056 that is written G1125 , Death G2288 is swallowed up G2666 in G1519 victory G3534 .

55. O death, where is your power? O death, where are your pains?
|
55. O death G2288 , where G4226 is thy G4675 sting G2759 ? O grave G86 , where G4226 is thy G4675 victory G3534 ?

|
56. The pain in death is sin. Sin has power over those under the Law.
|
56. G1161 The G3588 sting G2759 of death G2288 is sin G266 ; and G1161 the G3588 strength G1411 of sin G266 is the G3588 law G3551 .
|
|
57. But God is the One Who gives us power over sin through Jesus Christ our Lord. We give thanks to Him for this.
|
57. But G1161 thanks G5485 be to God G2316 , which giveth G1325 us G2254 the G3588 victory G3534 through G1223 our G2257 Lord G2962 Jesus G2424 Christ G5547 .

58. So then, Christian brothers, because of all this, be strong. Do not allow anyone to change your mind. Always do your work well for the Lord. You know that whatever you do for Him will not be wasted.
|
58.
